Presentation of the Committee

Gérard ARTHUS
President of the French Kennel Club
The FCI Committee has entrusted France, the founder country of this federation, with the organization of the FCI Centenary World Dog Show in 2011, the centenary year for the FCI.  We are highly honoured and rest assured that we will do our utmost to ensure that this anniversary be a great event for all dog-lovers.  We would like to thank the FCI Committee and its President, Mr Hans MULLER for placing his trust in us…
In the past, France organized the world dog show, in Paris in 1974.  2011 will be a different challenge because the international dog-lovers world has evolved a lot over the past 37 years.
We can say with modesty that France is a leading country in the cynophilic tradition.
We have approximately 170,000 births registers in our “livre d’origines”.  We hold the standard for 58 national breeds.  Our regional dog societies organize between 90 and 100 exhibitions each year, of which 30 have been awarded with CACIBs.
Now, having made this brief presentation, let’s get back to the subject at hand: the World Dog Show.  We are already at work and the French Kennel Club has designated three members of its committee to head the organization of this important event.  They are Mr Christian  EYMAR-DAUPHIN, Jean-Claude METANS and Gérard THONNAT.  We wish them all the best and can assure them that all the dog-lovers in the country will be behind them to guarantee the complete success of this centenary event.
This website will evolve and will help us to keep you informed of all the latest news about the show.

Hans W. Müller
President of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale
The biggest event of the F.C.I. centenary year will take place in France with the World Dog Show.  Given that in recent years, world exhibitions have, without exception, recorded registrations close to 20,000 dogs or more, we have no doubt that these figures will be exceeded once again.  There are many factors in favour of record registrations: the central geographic location of Paris and the charm of France will almost certainly attract many exhibitors.  The organizer, the French Kennel club, has for generations been a strong national organization, one of the five founding members of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale.  In addition, the French, regular dog show visitors, are capable of taking part in force.
Paris is a perfect venue for this type of exhibition, and I believe that several FCI records will be broken in 2011.  The strong enthusiasm for dogs in France almost certainly comes from the fact that, in this country, dogs are widely considered as being very useful.  Expectations from international dog-lovers are therefore extremely high but I am convinced that the French Kennel Club is capable of rising to the occasion and of meeting expectations.
As the French Kennel Club organizes the French Championships every year, we have considerable experience in running large events with a high registration rate.
We are already looking forward to this prestigious event and would like to wish the French Kennel Club every success as well as a high number of exhibitors.

Christian EYMAR-DAUPHIN
Vice President of the French Kennel Club
The moment that all French dog-lovers have been waiting for, the opening of the FCI Centenary World Dog Show, will take place on Thursday July 7, 2011, ending with the enchantment of the Best in Show on Sunday 10.  Don’t miss this event!
The Organization Committee intends to help you spend 4 enjoyable days in the world of pedigree dogs, and we are very excited at the idea of welcoming the most beautiful dogs in the world for your pleasure.
The French Pedigree dog championship will be linked to this international event, as we hope to offer exhibitors from far away to take advantage of the opportunity of two exhibits at the one location on the same week-end.
The Paris-Villepinte Exhibition Park is a cult venue for international meetings in the Parisian region, only a few minutes away from the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Ile de la Cité and the many Parisian museums…
Come to Paris!
Our volunteers are impatient to welcome you to our world!

Jean-Claude METANS
Vice President of the French Kennel Club
Welcome to the World Dog Show.
The Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) is pleased and honored to entrust the French Kennel Club with the organization of the FCI Centenary World Dog Show, which will take place in 2011, the FCI’s centenary year and the 130th anniversary of the French Kennel Club.
As the last time that the World Dog Show took place in France was in 1974, we were impatient to be able to produce this exceptional event.  The entire organization team is mobilized to welcome you under the best possible conditions and invites you to discover, in addition to the elite of the canine race, our capital that is steeped in history, gastronomy, entertainment, etc…
